The Great Docker Litter Pick

Over the course of two Sunday mornings, the Dockers’ U13 and U15 squads swapped rugby balls for litter grabbers, bin bags, and gloves, heading out to make a difference to our local Tuckton high street and river gardens. Respect, teamwork, and responsibility were on full display as the squads did their bit to keep local spaces clean and welcoming for everyone.
Supported by coaches and parents, and local councillor Bernadette Nanovo, the groups worked together to clear rubbish from pavements, shop doorways, hedges, and green spaces by the river. Lot’s of chats along the way, and opportunities for local residents and business owners to see their local rugby club in action.
Coach of the clubs newly formed U15’s side, John Willoughby, reflected on how important these type of activities are for the lads and the local community;
“Really pleasing to see so many of the lads giving their time to help the community, and to receive many positive comments and beeps of approval as they did it. What’s been impressive about coming to Iford Lane, is how the whole club is focused on ensuring the kids know they’re part of something bigger. This is where they live, go to school, and play their rugby.
A huge thank you to our players, parents, and coaches for making the Great Docker Litter Pick such a success. A big shout out to Tuckton Tea Gardens who provided the post pick ice creams.
